Conflict of Interest

IACAAB protects impartiality by identifying, evaluating and managing conflicts of interest before they can influence an accreditation activity or decision.

Potential conflicts

A conflict may arise from financial interests, employment, consultancy, personal relationships, previous involvement, competitive interests or any other circumstance that could affect independent judgment.

Controls

  • Personnel disclose relevant interests before assignment.
  • Assignments are reviewed for independence and technical suitability.
  • Persons with an unmanaged conflict are removed from the activity.
  • Confidential information is not used for personal or commercial advantage.
  • Risks and safeguards are recorded and reviewed.

Applicant cooperation

Applicants should disclose known conflicts involving an assessment team member or decision maker. IACAAB investigates concerns fairly and takes proportionate action.
