Accreditation Program

IACA accreditation programs define the types of conformity assessment activities that may be assessed for competence and impartial operation.

Program areas

Program areas may include testing laboratories, calibration laboratories, medical laboratories, inspection bodies, certification bodies, product certification, and other conformity assessment activities accepted by IACA.

  • Testing and calibration laboratory accreditation.
  • Medical laboratory accreditation.
  • Inspection body accreditation.
  • Certification body and product certification accreditation.

Scope of accreditation

Each accredited body is approved for a defined scope. The scope identifies the activities, methods, fields, standards, locations, and limitations that are covered by accreditation.

  • Applicants should define the requested scope clearly.
  • Scope extensions require review and assessment as applicable.
  • Accreditation does not automatically cover activities outside the approved scope.

Program maintenance

Programs are maintained through review of requirements, technical expertise, assessor competence, feedback, complaints, appeals, and changes in applicable standards.

  • Use current IACA documents and application forms.
  • Confirm program availability before submitting a new application.
  • Monitor updates to relevant accreditation requirements.

Applications and contact

Organizations seeking accreditation should review the current documents in the Center of Documents and contact IACA before submitting an application, so the correct scope, standard, and supporting records can be confirmed.
